Our 200th Blog Post

Hello!

200 posts!

What an adventure from Post #1. Since the end of January 2017, we have blogged at least once a week. It was a goal we set for ourselves and we have stuck with it.

Some of our early posts were tortured (we will be real). Three separate posts dedicated to setting up Instagram, Pinterest & Twitter, for example.

Perhaps this was not even the worst of it.

When we first kicked off our little business, we did it with a newborn. We persisted through sleep deprivation and all of it (if you have experienced the newborn life, you know what we are referring to).

We knew no one in the industry but we had many years of shooting experience (20 years for Em; here is an example from 10 years ago).

It was quite a contrast to Em’s previous work life. Having spent enough time at university to complete 3 degrees; one of which was, for the nerds/geeks, investigating expression of GABA receptors in human sclera.

Breaking into photography had a (comparatively) low barrier of entry and, depending on perception, the (potential) stigma of being another “mumtographer”.

We joined a local group for models and put up a call. Lovely Lynsey responded and we have not looked back.

We then worked with lovely Upma.

Then experienced & patient Johnré.

Some of it is not memorable. It is what it is.

Not all our early work is not memorable, though. For example, this post on New Farm Park still feels quintessential New Farm Park. If you have been, you know what I am talking about. Do not worry, though - we will not bore you to tears with a trip down memory lane.

We recently tallied up the number of businesses we have worked with since these early shoots. We are up to 180+.

We have been busy.

We have been networking.

We have been making new friends.

We have been creating.

We have been sharing.

We have been growing.

We have been learning from each and every client and/or business we have worked with.

We are so appreciative to everyone - both clients and businesses - along the way.

Now for a few highlights.

We have enjoyed 15 features through outside blogs - not possible without all other team members:

We try to practice what we preach about being an outward-focused, community minded business and we have an extensive recommendation list (forever behind on it as we work with so many amazing vendors regularly) and some individual features (an invitation we give to all businesses as we work with them):

Meet Florist & Stylist, Nadja (July 2020)

Meet Wedding Celebrant, Roxy (June 2020)

Meet Makeup Artist, Tyneale (December 2019)

Meet Wedding Celebrant, Fiona (June 2018)

Meet Homewares, Stationery & Giftware Designer, Sophie (June 2018)

Meet Custom-Cut Designers, Josh & Suzanne (May 2018)

Meet Event Hire & Stylists, Brodie & Dave (May 2018)

Meet Bridal Designer, Vanessa (January 2018)

Meet Makeup Artist, Gabrielle (December 2017)

In terms of us per se:

We try to keep ourselves at the front of our brand so that you know who you are working with. We consolidated all about us posts in this one.

We are proud Brisbanites.

We have documented the pandemic situation through our eyes.

We have updated with yearly reviews:

2020 - premature shout-out but cannot wait to share (still going to be fun to share despite a low number of jobs completed - thanks coronavirus! - but we have been busy in other ways so cannot wait to share)

2019

2018

2017

We have tried to keep useful information readily available; this one on planning a wedding, for example.

If you have shared in our journey, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We are looking forward to continuing this journey and continuing to write chapters.

Take care!
