Eat Sleep Pause Repeat :: Pause

We just want to take a moment to pause.

We have been very busy looking after our valued clients, forming meaningful connections with other vendors in the wedding industry and creating content for our business.

We want to pause.

<pause>

We have some exciting news.

A big personal goal for us has been to be featured in a reputable wedding blog.

We recently worked with a team of wonderful vendors on a shoot at the beautiful Riverwood Weddings. The shoot was submitted (shout-out to the exceptional Roxy for taking on the submission process and shout-out to lovely Marisha for pushing for submission in the first place!).

Long story short, the shoot was accepted to be featured on two blog sites: Polka Dot Bride & The Wedding Playbook (both features will be live in January 2020).

Update to include publication links:

//

We are thrilled and ever so grateful to each and every team member involved with this shoot. We are delighted that both Polka Dot Bride & The Wedding Playbook are happy to feature us.

It is a business goal/dream come true.

I (Em) remember using Polka Dot Bride as a source of inspiration for our own wedding 7 years ago!

The experience brought back a memory for me. I remember using PubMed during my undergraduate biomedical science degree. I remember setting a goal for myself: I would search for my name on PubMed one day with a successful hit (preferably first author). That goal/dream came true. (Huge thank you to my alma mater and regional council for combining forces and enabling our “poo paper” to become a reality!)

While I do not recall wishing to be featured on any particular wedding blog at the time of our wedding, it has definitely become a goal/dream since kicking off our business.

We will be delighted to share all the details in January 2020.

Once again, so much gratitude for the team who helped to make this possible. We cannot wait to share everything with you soon!

Information :: Pre-Wedding Cafe Date with Pete & Em

Hello!

If you are considering booking your wedding photography with us, can we strongly recommend a pre-wedding cafe date first?

Some of the reasons for why we recommend this in-person meeting are:

  • We get to meet each other and see if our personalities mesh - that is, if we are the right fit

  • You get to fill us in on your priorities

  • We can discuss logistics, lighting, point of contact(s) and all the things that are pertinent to smooth running on the day

  • We can address any concerns (wet weather, family dynamics, and so on)

  • You get to see some of our previous work in-person

  • You can ask us anything!

Some of our favourite cafes are:

As we state in our FAQ page:

We have never met you and we want to be sure that we're a good fit. Are you happy to meet up in person?

Absolutely! You will feel more comfortable and relaxed if we have already broken the ice. However, travel restrictions do apply. Our clients must be able to meet up within a 10 km radius of Brisbane CBD. Aside from that, we are more than happy to meet for a coffee or a chai latte to see if we are a good fit for each other.

Emunah Events :: Event Styling & Floral Design

Carissa & Serena. Emunah Events. Where to start?

Well, firstly: we love the Emunah Events team (meet them and we know that you will agree!) and their outstanding work.

We locked the date in for Albert River Wines to tag along with the team and capture their work. Goodness, they blew us away. Absolutely.outstanding.work. It was a privilege and delight to work alongside these talented florists & stylists. We shot from 11:30 till 6 pm so the following images span from direct sunlight to golden hour. It was a funny day weather-wise as the sun popped in (=shade>blue white balance) and out (=sunlight>warm white balance) all day. Keeping the white balance consistent during editing was fun! ;) The location (Albert River Wines) is beautiful and so tranquil; make sure to add it to your list of venues to see in-person. It really is worth taking a look. We would like to note, too, that the signage was provided by Very Flamingo and, in our opinion, was very high quality. The beautiful peacock chair (never thought we would refer to a chair as being memorable but check this one out; this one makes a statement, for sure!) was provided by the team at Global Vintage Hire. Feel free to check out these vendors for yourself and enjoy the following collection of shots from the day. :)

Information :: Consolidation

We were recently bringing our Facebook page up to date and created an “About Us” album in the process. We included a few links containing information about us and realised that it has been a little while since we have consolidated it all in one place on our blog. So here we are:

Us - Pete & Em - living our best life in Karnataka, India, on Christmas Eve, 2014.

Information :: The Aisle Conundrum

We love to chat all things wedding-related. We welcome all conversations - including the potentially awkward and challenging. If a topic is important to either of you, it is important to us, too. The reality is this: life is not always straightforward. Life does not have to be straightforward. It would be boring if it was! Weddings (and the resulting relationship dynamics as two families map out a future with both of them in it - or not in it, as the case might be) can be really convoluted - and that is okay. Your story is your story. If it helps, we are happy to work around any situation. At the end of the day, we are not being paid to judge your situation or circumstances - or story. We are there to fulfil our role of capturing your day - and the emotions involved - exactly as it unfolds. We find sometimes couples share the details of their day and the people involved almost apologetically or with caveats. We almost always interject and reassure that we do not need to know the intimate details if that is not comfortable for either or both of you. Of course, we are happy to listen if it is something that you want to share, though, and helps you to know that you are supported/understood. It is entirely up to you. Just know that we will not be judging/be surprised/curate your story to suit any bias you think we might have. After all, we can empathise; I (Em) was thrilled to have my wonderful uncle walk me down the aisle. I get that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to weddings that come in every shape and size possible. :)

Floristry & styling by the talented team at Emunah Events.

Speaking of the aisle, here are just some variants we have seen/heard about when it comes to the Big Walk:

  • Bride herself

  • Bride & Groom together

  • Father

  • Mother

  • Father & Mother

  • Stepdad

  • Step-mum

  • Stepdad & Father (honestly - this is so amazing to see!)

  • Father-in-law (even royalty are no strangers to “nontraditional” family dynamics)

  • Grandfather

  • Grandmother (my - Em’s - personal favourite involvement of grandmother is as a flower “girl” - gets me every time!)

  • Godfather

  • Brother

  • Brother-in-law

  • Child/Children

  • Uncle

  • Aunt

  • Family friend

At the end of the day, you do you - whatever that looks like! We will be there with you every step of the way and would be delighted to capture the visual story from your day. Feel free to reach out!
