Wedding: B+T <3 (Karana Downs)

Brooke & Tahlia.

<3

We met Brooke & Tahlia before accepting their non-refundable retainer or signing the contract. We were drawn to their laid-back, easy-going, fun-loving natures. They remained true to themselves on The Big Day and celebrated their wedding in their backyard. (We love when couples do whatever is important to them, whether that is a wedding in a chateau, villa, cathedral, winery, mountain - or backyard! It does not matter as long as it is somewhere important to both of you.) Brooke & Tahlia welcomed us as guests and treated us as guests, too - including warmly welcoming us to help ourselves to their delicious curry & slider stations. We want to wish the lovely Brooke & Tahlia the very best for their future together - we hope it is full of wonderful memories! Here are ~120 of our favourites from the day.

Nilla <3

Sometimes you meet people, and it is just meant to be.

It has been this way with Nilla.

I (Em) met Nilla at our local library on a Thursday. We chatted and by the time we had finished our conversation, we had lined up a shoot. It took place on the following Wednesday (less than a week later; where there is a will, there is a way!) and we had two other lovely vendors come on-board: Vanessa from When Freddie Met Lilly & Cindy from Cindy Industries. We went to South Bank and wandered along chasing the light. Nilla was amazing to work with - an absolute delight! We wish her many more modelling opportunities in her future (we would work with her again at a moment’s notice, but she is busy exploring the world at the moment). Thank you for working with us, Nilla! <3

Nilla’s makeup artist was Cindy from Cindy Industries. Cindy is amazing! We highly recommend. Not only did Cindy nail the brief we were working from for this shoot, she is also a fan of The Office. This might seem insignificant and redundant information but… if you’re asking that question, have you even seen The Office? ;) In all seriousness, Cindy is fabulous and her work is perfect; she is listed among our recommended vendors.

Vanessa from When Freddie Met Lilly provided two stunning gowns. We have worked with lovely Vanessa previously, including an interview here. You will find When Freddie Met Lilly listed among our recommended vendors. Always a pleasure working with Vanessa.

Nick & Sarah.

We love this shoot for a few reasons:

  • Nick & Sarah are a rocking couple <3

  • They were invested in the process and had scouted their own locations - completely unexpected but lovely to see how much this shoot meant to them

  • It is an example of our work shot between 1:30 & 3 pm - useful information for couples looking for how we handle what can be challenging middle-of-the-day lighting conditions

  • It is an example of how we handle nerves; I think that we can safely say that Nick was a little overwhelmed about this shoot (totally understandable to feel nervous) and yet he knocked it out of the park - stay till the end for our favourite example!

  • We received the sweetest response upon delivery: “Hi Emily, We love love love them!!! Thank you so much. Can’t wait to see the actual wedding photos now! Sarah and Nick”

  • We are very excited about this beautiful wedding next year <3

I suggested this wall to Nick & Sarah but added that I understood that people were sitting nearby and I totally understood if they felt uncomfortable with posing in front of it. Nick boldly stepped forward and said, “I’ve got this!” He certainly did - and is hopefully a whole lot less stressed out about photography on their Big Day. We cannot wait! <3

Eat Sleep Pause Repeat :: Pause

We just want to take a moment to pause.

We have been very busy looking after our valued clients, forming meaningful connections with other vendors in the wedding industry and creating content for our business.

We want to pause.

<pause>

We have some exciting news.

A big personal goal for us has been to be featured in a reputable wedding blog.

We recently worked with a team of wonderful vendors on a shoot at the beautiful Riverwood Weddings. The shoot was submitted (shout-out to the exceptional Roxy for taking on the submission process and shout-out to lovely Marisha for pushing for submission in the first place!).

Long story short, the shoot was accepted to be featured on two blog sites: Polka Dot Bride & The Wedding Playbook (both features will be live in January 2020).

Update to include publication links:

//

We are thrilled and ever so grateful to each and every team member involved with this shoot. We are delighted that both Polka Dot Bride & The Wedding Playbook are happy to feature us.

It is a business goal/dream come true.

I (Em) remember using Polka Dot Bride as a source of inspiration for our own wedding 7 years ago!

The experience brought back a memory for me. I remember using PubMed during my undergraduate biomedical science degree. I remember setting a goal for myself: I would search for my name on PubMed one day with a successful hit (preferably first author). That goal/dream came true. (Huge thank you to my alma mater and regional council for combining forces and enabling our “poo paper” to become a reality!)

While I do not recall wishing to be featured on any particular wedding blog at the time of our wedding, it has definitely become a goal/dream since kicking off our business.

We will be delighted to share all the details in January 2020.

Once again, so much gratitude for the team who helped to make this possible. We cannot wait to share everything with you soon!

Information :: Pre-Wedding Cafe Date with Pete & Em

Hello!

If you are considering booking your wedding photography with us, can we strongly recommend a pre-wedding cafe date first?

Some of the reasons for why we recommend this in-person meeting are:

  • We get to meet each other and see if our personalities mesh - that is, if we are the right fit

  • You get to fill us in on your priorities

  • We can discuss logistics, lighting, point of contact(s) and all the things that are pertinent to smooth running on the day

  • We can address any concerns (wet weather, family dynamics, and so on)

  • You get to see some of our previous work in-person

  • You can ask us anything!

Some of our favourite cafes are:

As we state in our FAQ page:

We have never met you and we want to be sure that we're a good fit. Are you happy to meet up in person?

Absolutely! You will feel more comfortable and relaxed if we have already broken the ice. However, travel restrictions do apply. Our clients must be able to meet up within a 10 km radius of Brisbane CBD. Aside from that, we are more than happy to meet for a coffee or a chai latte to see if we are a good fit for each other.
